Quick rant. Been trying to access the National Registration Department’s website at http://www.jpn.gov.my at 7:33 pm today, and I swear to you, their servers are farking powered by hamsters who seem to be on coffee break. How’s that for eGovernment? k-economy? Bull-farking-shit.
Check out the ping stats:
C:>ping www.jpn.gov.my -n 10

I mean, what the hell? Do their servers close shop at 4:00 pm, like, office hours? What’s the point of having a web presence then? So that visitors can look for information, during office hours? Seriously man, this sucks, and if any of you monkeys administering the servers at jpn.gov.my are reading this, you suck. I wonder how much the JPN (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara aka. National Registration Department) is paying for such service disservice.
That’s your taxpayers’ monies at work right here. Bunch of incompetents.

sigh, not the first time i encountered the same problem like yours. to access to the gov site, not only do you require a pc, internet connection, you need a great amount of LUCK! cause it failed to work from time to time, according to some of their experts in the customer complaint hotline, it is due to extreme low voltage in their internet connection line.
any eee or communication engineers out there care to verify this?
It’s still wonky as I type this. I can’t believe the excuse that you mentioned. If they already know that there is a problem, then why don’t they fix it? Because they don’t care, that’s why.
I’m working with JPN and I can tell you that the Web is fine but a little bit heavy because of all the new design they done a few weeks ago. I guess they failed to realised how low their bandwidth is and with all those graphics they put into the website, it will take ages to load up.
Me myself tried to surf it a few days ago from outside the office in Putrajaya and end up having trouble like you. Though I’m not the member of their web team, I will take your complain to them as soon as possible. Thanks.
Thanks for the input, Fross. Also, if you are going to mail them, tell them to allow visitors to mute the theme song playing on the front page too.
The real problem (as said by the Web Team) is that since JPN network is a very high secure network, they only limit a small amount of outgoing bandwidth for external user. The problem is that JPN Web is hosted by JPN themselves, thus automaticaly limiting the outgoing bandwidth of the web. This is done for security reason as you know that JPN handles very sensitive personal data of every single Malaysian, they have to take care about letting somebody accessing data on their server.
Right now the web team is proposing with the management to allow them to host the web on third party server such as with Jaring or.. err, I don’t know any other realiable Malaysian third party hosting service. But as you can see, this will cost money and it is not that easy just to ‘waste’ a few hundred ringgit to host your web somewhere else. The management always very prudent with their money as it is the people’s money.
So let see what will happen. I think they’ll be some tweaking with the website within this few weeks. I too hates the song (MyKad Song).
Thanks for your input, Friss. I personally think it would be unwise to host the website on the same networks as the backbone machines. The security of all our personal information is at stake here. Actually, we shouldn’t even be talking about this, lest we get locked up for some OSA infringement. Anyway, I’m glad my message is getting across. Thanks for listening and responding to my rant.
