In my post “Do my eyes deceive me?“, I put forward an animated GIF that messes with your brain and your eyes. Now, I’ve already figured out the solution, or rather, the mechanics behind how the illusion works. In a silhouette, one is not able to judge depth, therefore, at key moments in the animation, there are opportunities of ambiguous nature that allows two equally correct solutions to occur. Vinegar has nicely demonstrated her l337 Photochop skillz and whipped up a diagram explaining the phenomenon. Nice job sweetie. Here, have a cookie.
